UNDP HUMAN DEVELOPMENT REPORT 2007/2008

The UNDP Human Development Report 2007/2008 “Fighting Climate Change: Human Solidarity in a Divided World” had launched in Singapore jointly by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), and the United Nations Association of Singapore (UNAS).

UNAS Members were invited to the Asian launch hosted by Singapore on the 28th November 2007. The Guest-of-Honour was Mr Abdullah Tarmugi - Speaker of Parliament & Member of Parliament, East Coast Group Representation Constituency Singapore. To find out more >>>

International Children Art Competition

To commemorate the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17th) and the First Decade for the Eradication of Poverty (1997-2006), the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs, in collaboration with the Department of Public Information and the United Nations Postal Administration was pleased to announce : AN ART COMPETITION FOR CHILDREN TO DESIGN A UN STAMP ON THE THEME ‘WE CAN END POVERTY’. International Day Of Peace Observance Event on 21st September 2007
 
The UN, through its special resolution has dedicated the 21 September of every year as the International Day of Peace. This day is celebrated yearly throughout the world in their efforts to show that it is possible to have peace one day. Following the successful event held last year, Mercy Relief has organised another event this time, together with other organisations such as the Inter-Religious Organisation, Singapore Soka Association and Yayasan Mendaki. The event was held on Friday, 21 September 2007 at Singapore Soka Association HQ (10 Tampines Street 81) from 7.00 to 9.30pm. To Find out more >>>
 

 

INVITATION TO ‘ECO ACTION 2007’ ON THE WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY (JUNE 5, 2007)

The World Environment Day, commemorated on June 5, was one of the main events through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness for the environment. Singapore Environment Council, in association with Ricoh, were promoting “Eco Action 2007.” Their objective were to showcase June 5 as an event to improve awareness among the people in Singapore about energy conservation & climate change. Model UN Conference organised by the Political Science Society of NUS, 5th June 2007

An estimated 325 student delegates from the Junior Colleges and tertiary institutions including the 3 varsities spent 4 days in early June 2007 to participate in the 4th annual Singapore Model UN Conference. To find out more>>>>


UN Seminar 2007

The United Nations Association of Singapore (UNAS) hosted a one-day seminar on Saturday, 12th May 2007 at the The Regional Language Centre, Orange Grove Road.  The theme for seminar was : “ The United Nations and ASEAN - Partnership for Security and Development in the Asia-Pacific region ”.    This was also to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the founding of ASEAN. Inter-racial/Inter-religious Harmony Nite


The THYE HUA KWAN MORAL SOCIETY in conjunction with IRO, SINDA, EA, MENDAKI, CDAC, Chee Hoon Kog Moral Promotion Society and Chia Hia Kog Moral Society hosted Inter-Racial & Inter-Religious Nite 2007 on Saturday 28 July 2007 and Sunday 29 July 2007 at HALL 1, Singapore Expo. ASIA-PACIFIC MDG MEDIA AWARDS

 

The competition was open to all print, radio and TV producers / journalists from public service broadcasting organizations, private networks and free-lance producers covering the Asia and the Pacific. The Awards carried a prize of US$7,000 for first prize winners in each category, and a US$2,000 prize for runners up. To Find out more >>>
